The Bucs activated suspended corner back Torrie Cox today. Cox was suspended by the league for the first four games of this season for violating the leagues substance abuse policy after being pulled over for a DUI. The Bucs released safety Donte Nicholson to make room for Cox. Nicholson was signed after the Bucs lost Sabby Piscitelli for the year with an ankle injury.
I though Cox may lose his job in training camp with all the competition, but he stayed in shape and looked great in his time in the preseason. This will be a big boost to the secondary with Brian Kelly and Phillip Buchanon nursing injuries. Cox has been in this system for a while and is a great tackler. He will also most likely help to return kick offs with Mark Jones. Cox is also a huge contributor in special teams with his coverage and tackling abilities.
Nicholson was expendable with Cox's ability to play safety, corner, and contribute on special teams. This is a nice report from the Bucs going into a huge match up with the Colts.
